Top 5 Reasons Why We Love the Ankara Miami Fashion Show

AFR Clothing is certainly extremely lucky to be one of the few brands that have participated in all the Ankara Miami Fashion Shows since the first event in 2012. Back in 2012, although it was called Ankara Miami, the inaugural event was held at TempoLive in Hollywood, Florida. Not exactly in Miami but hey – we all start somewhere.

In this short blog, we will highlight the Top 5 Reasons Why We Love The Ankara Miami Fashion Show.

1. Connecting Africans in South Florida: For the record, we personally look forward to this event each year as the Ankara Miami Team truly delivers on it’s mission: promoting positive and progressive people and trends in the African Diaspora. Unlike other major cities like NYC, Boston, DC and Dallas – South Florida does not have many afro-centric events that bring the African diaspora together. Ankara Miami has definitely been able to fill this void and each year, more and more Africans are being connected through this event…

What’s even more fascinating is the fact that you have Africans flying in from other major cities like NYC to be a part of the fun at Ankara Miami. Last year, our dear friend, Kelechi Anyadiegwu, Founder of Zuvaa – a premier online destination to find unique and one of kind African Inspired pieces – came down for the fun (and to enjoy the sunny South Florida weather)… Zuvaa has been a great platform for AFR Clothing apparel and we highly encourage you check them out 🙂 – you will thank us later.

 

2. Provides a platform for Entrepreneurs: Ankara Miami events always provide entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products to a highly engaged audience.Through our participation in Ankara Miami events, AFR Clothing has gained tremendous exposure and we have been able to create lifelong relationships with customers and other companies… This year, Ankara Miami added a runway event fully dedicated to emerging designers – such an awesome idea.

 

 

3. The Music: In our humble opinion, African music is the best. By far. Afro-beats makes us feel “some type of way”. At every Ankara Miami Fashion Show – the music is always on point. DJ Baboo, who is based in Tampa, Florida, was on the 1s and 2s for the 2015 edition. This guy is truly amazing. 4. Innovative: Each year, Ankara Miami has added a new innovative dimension to their show. This year’s edition saw the one-day event transition to a fashion week – 4 events over 4 nights. The pop-up store on the final day was the most innovative – good job!

 

 

5. They Give Back: each year, Ankara Miami donates a portion of the proceeds to a local non-profit. This year they donated to the African Heritage Cultural Art Center located in Miami. Clearly this resonates strongly with AFR Clothing since this is part of our DNA – hence why we donate 20% of our profits to the Amani Hope Foundation. We are glad that Ankara Miami shares the same DNA as us. 🙂
