A day with Amani Hope Scholar – Diana Muzira – in Harare, Zimbabwe was truly life changing for our Co-Founder and Chief Donor, Kuda Biza. AFR Clothing is empowering lives in Africa through a simple model: donate 20% of profits made from selling apparel. We are Educating AFRica, One T-shirt at a Time.
Do you remember a time someone believed in your dreams and made it their mission to support you? Picture this; you are the oldest of 8 children, your father walked out on the family and your mom is unable to cater for her children because she is wheelchair bound, your family moves to a single bedroom apartment to share and you slowly watch your hopes and dreams slip through your grasp; what would you do? Do you feel ashamed of the situation and your family, do you give up and watch life cruise by or do you step up as a young child, find a job and be the leader that your family needs?
Well this is the story of Diana Muzira – an Amani Hope Scholarship recipient in Zimbabwe who stopped at nothing to cater for her family through hard work, dedication, and determination. Taking on such responsibilities meant Diana had to put her life on hold and work at the market to earn enough for groceries and other necessities. This was her daily routine until Chiedza Child Care Center stepped in with attempts to ease the burden.
With limited resources to support all its children, Chiedza partnered with the AFR Clothing & the Amani Hope Foundation; an organization that provides underprivileged children with educational scholarships, equipping them with peaceful paths to positive change. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to say “yes I believe” for a life to be transformed completely. That is what the Amani Hope Foundation did for Diana. We believed and continue to believe that every child should be educated. Not only did Amani Hope provide education for Diana, they also provide groceries for the family so Diana can focus on her education and being a child. Today she is much relaxed teenager who like many teenagers dislike math however she loves Geography because it allows her to thinking broadly and learn about different climate changes.
This summer, AFR Clothing Co-Founder & Chief Donor Kuda Biza, met with Diana in Zimbabwe. Diana engaged in great conversation but most importantly she was grateful to finally meet a member of the team that graciously believed in her, and restored her hopes and dreams. Diana now believes that This Is Her Era.
