Sight 2: Wli Waterfalls, Volta Region

Wli cascades from a height of about 143 meters from the upper fall to the pool below and its mountains contain the highest mountain peak in Ghana; the Afadja Mountain. Coles (2012) agrees “the pool at the bottom of the falls is perfect for a cooling dip”. Sight 3: Akosombo Dam, Eastern Region

The dam rises 440 feet above sea level and has a crest 2,201 feet wide. The dam was a joint effort by Ghana, the World Bank, the United States, and the United Kingdom to provide electricity.

Sight 4: Elmina Castle, Central Region

Every history and ancestry background enthusiast will love this castle. Elmina provides an unforgettable historical experience of the slave trade in Ghana. “It was the first trading post built on the Gulf of Guinea, making it the oldest European building in existence below the Sahara”(Elmina Castle info). It later became one of the most significant stops on the route of the Atlantic slave trade.
